Lengthy, "Landscape" style images are not to be used for the Member Home page, and are best used for you web page where many sized images can be shown to your best advantage. What is a Domain? A Sub-Domain? What is a URL?
A URL is the entire internet address of some general residence, in the universe of the Internet. "Earth, U.S., New Mexico, Northern NM, Rio-Arriba" would be an example of our URL address in the Solar System. Computers read the numbers associated with these names while humans only know the single name: "http://www.rachc.org"
A Domain Name is a particular residence name which is usually a part of the URL: "rachc.org" These names are assigned an numeric address in the vast switching system called the Internet.
A Sub-Domain is like an ante-room off the main Chamber or large room which is the domain itself, to which we give a special purpose or function. This "ante-room" can also be given properties to act like a domain itself, but that's a different story. For example, http://calendar.rachc.org will bring someone to look at our new community calendar currently available. Another example: Blogs are usually their own sub-domains. To recognize a sub-domain you will see a "." before the domain name itself.
(www is the most common, i.e, the world wide web) Our blog is http://blog.rachc.org.
The RACHC.Org Forums are hosted for you by the Greater Española Valley Community Development Corporation.
